The purpose of the Ophthalmology Interest Group (OIG) is not only to foster interest in ophthalmology but also to provide medical students with a better understanding of the specialty. These goals are achieved through a combination of regular meetings and a spring fundoscopy workshop. Members of OIG also have the opportunity to shadow residents and fellows in the University Eye Service. Finally, members of OIG have the opportunity to volunteer with ReSpectacle, a 501(c)3 organization that recycles eyeglasses to donate to those in need.
