Welcome from Dr. Amjad Musleh, Director of Coaching

Dear future colleagues,
Starting medical school can feel like stepping into a whole new world. We want to make sure you never feel like you’re walking it alone and we’ve built a program that’s all about making sure you don’t have to.
From day one till the day you walk the graduation stage, you’ll be paired with a dedicated faculty coach who walks alongside you through every step of your training. This is someone who takes the time to truly get to know you, know your goals, your values, your struggles and stays with you throughout that journey. | Full Welcome Letter

Student Testimonials
“Coaching has been one of my favorite parts of the Gateway curriculum. I’m grateful to be able to decompress and reflect in a safe space with people that have become some of my closest friends. My coach has been immensely supportive, offering guidance through both academic and personal challenges.”
Olivia M, Class of 2026

“The coaching sessions are one of the strongest aspects of a WashU medical education. It provides formal longitudinal mentorship for students along with a sense of community. I personally found the sessions especially helpful when I was re-entering clinical training after returning from my research years.”
Cyrus Z, Class of 2026
