Endocrinology Interest Group

The Endocrinology Interest Group is a community where medical students who have interest in endocrinology gather and engage early in their education through wide spectrum of endocrinology related activities that include practicums, trivia, lectures, trips among other activities that spot the light on the interesting and fun aspects of Endocrinology. The group will meet monthly, with each themed meeting highlighting a piece of the breadth and depth of endocrinology (e.g., diabetes technology, expanding indications for GLP-1 agonists, transgender medicine), and relevant subspecialty faculty from the endocrinology division and/or pediatric endocrinology will be invited to attend for their insights. Group members will have access to the different didactics’ activities done at the endocrine division. Individual advice would also be provided to member students based on their interest and long term goals when applicable in accordance with our tripartite mission (clinical, research and education). For clinical experience, faculty advisors will facilitate clinical shadowing and highlight endocrinology elective options. For research experience, faculty advisors and group leaders will help students network with relevant faculty to establish early mentorship and contribution to clinical or basic science research projects. For educational experience, faculty advisors will incorporate senior students to teach their more junior peers during small groups and course reviews during existing preclinical endocrine curriculum.
