ACE Inhibitors (WUSM Tennis Club)
The ACE Inhibitors will serve WUSM’s mission statement by promoting the health and wellbeing of trainees, as well as fostering inclusion and connectedness among medical students, other WUSM trainees and students, and faculty across levels. We will accept people of all skill and experience levels and lower the barriers to entry for tennis.
American Medical Association
The WUSM student chapter of the American Medical Association (AMA) serves as a patient and medical student advocate, supports volunteer work in the St. Louis community and sponsors educational events to foster creative discussion among medical students.

The American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA) is a national organization committed to advancing inclusion in medicine by promoting the health and well-being of all physicians, supporting professional and personal development, and fostering leadership and advocacy that uplift all voices in the medical profession.
Anesthesiology Interest Group
The Anesthesiology Interest Group (AIG) is a student organization dedicated to providing medical students with opportunities to learn more about and experience the field of anesthesiology.
Arab American Medical Student Association
The Arab American Medical Student Association is a group dedicated to promoting equitable healthcare access and cultural understanding by supporting inclusion of Arabic-speaking communities in clinical research, education, and outreach initiatives. We collaborate with community partners to improve language access, including interpreter training for Arabic-speaking patients. We also foster an inclusive campus environment by sharing the diverse food, history, and culture of Arab communities.
Art to Heart
The goal of Art to Heart is to foster artistic expression by students, faculty and staff at the medical school in a way that adds richness to the medical school community.
Asian-Pacific American Medical Student Association
The Asian-Pacific American Medical Student Association (APAMSA) is a national organization of medical and pre-medical students dedicated to advancing equitable healthcare and cultural understanding for Asian, Pacific Islander, and other historically underserved communities. APAMSA provides a collaborative forum for students to engage in education, research, and service initiatives that address health disparities and promote culturally responsive care. Through its local, regional, and national activities, APAMSA fosters leadership, professional development, and service opportunities.
Association of Women Surgeons
The Association of Women Surgeons (AWS) group is a national organization committed to advancing inclusion in surgery by promoting the health and well-being of all individuals interested in a surgical career, supporting professional and personal development, and fostering leadership and advocacy within the field of surgery.
Cardiovascular Interest Group
The purpose of the Cardiovascular Interest Group (CVIG) is to foster interest in and broaden students’ exposure to cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery.
CHOICES for Youth in Detention
CHOICES (Choosing Healthy Options In our Community, Environment, and Schools) for Youth in Detention is an innovative outreach effort dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of incarcerated teens.
Christian Medical Association
The Christian Medical Association (CMA) is a student organization affiliated with the national Christian Medical & Dental Association (CMDA). CMA provides a welcoming environment for students, residents, and faculty of all faiths and belief systems to explore the relationship between faith, ethics, and the practice of medicine. Through discussions, service opportunities, and community gatherings, CMA encourages reflection on how personal values influence compassionate care.
Clinical Research Journal Club
The Clinical Research Journal Club (CRJC) is a regularly-meeting group to discuss the latest and greatest in clinical research, for students to learn about the frontiers of medicine and to hone their skills in analyzing clinical research.

Critical Care Medicine Interest Group
The goal of the Critical Care Medicine Interest Group is to expose medical students to the field of critical care. This is done through lunch talks hosting physicians, fellows, residents and researchers who work in critical care or a related field. Students will learn about the pathways to work in critical care, what a critical care physician does, and how they can apply the principles of critical care in their profession. The interest group will also provide the opportunity for students and faculty to meet to coordinate shadowing and research.
Culinary Medicine Program
Medical students who help lead the Culinary Medicine Program direct a monthly culinary demonstration and informational course about healthy eating. Additionally, the Culinary Medicine Program hosts occasional talks about nutrition-related topics, featuring WashU faculty and educators. The CMP is invested in cultivating an interest in nutrition as it relates to physical wellness, and also sharing information to promote wellness within the WashU community and beyond.
Dementia Understanding and Outreach (DUO)
The Dementia Understanding and Outreach (DUO) fosters interest in geriatric medicine, engages in community outreach with local older adult organizations, and partners with the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center for the Dementia Understanding Opportunities program.
Dermatology Interest Group
The Dermatology Interest Group (DIG) was founded in order to provide medical students with opportunities to explore the field of dermatology throughout their medical education.
Emergency Medicine Interest Group
The purpose of the Washington University Emergency Medicine Interest Group (EMIG) is to foster interest in and provide information pertaining to the field of emergency medicine. The group sponsors a variety of activities, including SimWars and workshops.

Family Medicine Interest Group
Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG) is dedicated to promoting primary care and family medicine at WashU. We host lunch talks, networking events, and offer shadowing opportunities throughout the year.
Giving a Boost
Giving a Boost (GAB) is a volunteer-driven organization established to support pre-medical students lacking access to mentors in medicine. Comprised of current medical students, our goal is to provide free personalized mentorship to students from all backgrounds. By offering guidance on medical school applications free of cost, we aim to alleviate the financial burden, reduce disparities in the application process, and help create a diverse group of future physicians. While we cannot assure that our services will guarantee acceptance into medical school, we aim to reduce the stress of applications for our mentees, and we volunteer our time to provide the guidance that we ourselves wished for during this journey.
Global Health & Medicine
Global Health & Medicine (GH&M) is WUSM’s global health related student group. GH&M exposes medical students to a career in global health through its annual symposium, close interactions with global health faculty, and seminar opportunities. More information on this group can be found here.

The Mission of the Health Career Collaborative is to provide mentorship, engaging health curriculum, and exposure to health careers to high school students from underrepresented minority communities.

Hematology Interest Group
We are the Hematology Interest Group (HIG), and our goal is to bring together and support medical students who are interested in learning more about the fascinating field of hematology. Whether you are curious about hematologic malignancies (leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma), transfusion medicine (hemolytic disease of newborns), coagulopathy (DIC, TTP, ITP), classic hematology (anemia, sickle cell disease, hemophilia), or simply want to broaden your knowledge of a rapidly expanding medical specialty, this group could be a great opportunity for you!
Hippocratic Forum
The mission of the Hippocratic Forum is: “to transform healthcare at the individual level by providing medical doctors and trainees the tools to aim for higher ideals, form meaningful relationships, and find space for reflection and recollection.” Our specific aims to enhance student life at WashU are: (1) Build community among WashU medical trainees interested in the topic of ideals in medicine; (2) Provide a space for WashU medical trainees to explore ways of cultivating a deeper sense of meaning, mastery, and enjoyment in our professional and personal lives.

Hippocrene is an arts magazine by and for the students, staff, and faculty of the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis (WUSM) and the Division of Biology and Biomedical Sciences (DBBS).
Histones a Cappella
The Histones is the medical campus a cappella group of made up of graduate and professional students who love to sing for fun.
Infectious Disease Interest Group (IDIG)
The Infectious Disease Interest Group (IDIG) provides medical students with opportunities to learn about and explore careers in adult and pediatric infectious disease.
Internal Medicine Interest Group
The Internal Medicine Interest Group (IMIG) is a student interest group focused on the broad field of Internal Medicine and its associated subspecialties, exposing med students to the field and facilitating relationships between students and physicians.
Interprofessional Pro Bono Clinic
Originally founded as the Saturday Neighborhood Health Clinic (SNHC) in 1997, the Student Interprofessional Free Clinic provides compassionate and skilled care to uninsured and underinsured residents of the greater St. Louis community. Led by Washington University School of Medicine health professional students and supported by current faculty, individuals receive temporary medical care from interprofessional clinical teams while consulting with our clinic’s community referral coordinator for assistance in finding affordable and quality primary care.
Interventional Radiology Interest Group (IRIG)
The goal of the Interventional Radiology Interest Group is to expand student exposure and interest in Interventional Radiology as a potential career path. Students would have the opportunity to interact with IR Residents, Fellows, and Attendings via shadowing and organized events to learn what specializing in IR would entail. Further, there is opportunity to offer multiple workshops like ultrasound, biopsy, and cath-procedure simulation events. Further down the line, there is potential to work with industry partners to host events related to Interventional Oncology, Cryoablation, and usage of emerging technologies like Virtual Reality Simulation.
Jewish Medical Student Association (JMSA)
The Jewish Medical Student Association (JMSA) is a student organization that fosters community, cultural understanding, and ethical reflection through programs exploring Jewish traditions and their intersections with medicine. JMSA provides opportunities for students, faculty, and staff of all faiths and belief systems to engage in discussions, service, and educational events that promote mutual understanding and professional growth. Activities such as “lunch and learn” sessions and community events encourage exploration of Jewish heritage, values, and history within an inclusive campus environment.
Knitting Club
Knitting Club's mission is to build community through knitting, a craft that promotes brain health. Knitting helps to destress, develop fine motor skills, and express creativity.
Krebs Cyclers
WUSM Krebs Cyclers club aims for bike enthusiasts of all abilities to come together and ride. Promoting fitness and team spirit, this organization has bimonthly rides around St. Louis and surrounding areas.
KTGF Child Psych Interest Group
KTGF/Child Psych Interest Group helps expose M1s to opportunities in the Child Psych department throug shadowing, a facutly dinner panel and case discussion, Interview with Patient lunch talk, Psych trivia fundraiser, and the annual medical student KTGF conference. Part of the nation-wide Klingenstein Third Generation Foundation (KTGF).
Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA)
The Latino Medical Student Association (LMSA) is a student organization that promotes equitable healthcare and cultural understanding by advancing the health and well-being of Latino and other historically underserved communities. Through service and education, LMSA fosters leadership and advocacy skills among medical students and provides an inclusive forum for all who are committed to improving health equity and access to care.
LGBTQ MED
LGBTQ Med is a student organization dedicated to advancing education, advocacy, and inclusion related to sexual orientation, gender identity, and LGBTQ+ health. Our mission is to promote culturally responsive care through understanding of the unique health and social challenges affecting LGBTQ+ individuals and to foster sensitivity and equity in medical education and patient care. We collaborate with community organizations to support engagement and service related to LGBTQ+ health and well-being.

The Med-Peds Interest Group strives to increase awareness of Medicine and Pediatrics as a combined specialty, facilitate interaction between students and Med-Peds faculty, and provide opportunities for shadowing and research.
Medical Ethics Student Society
The purpose of the Medical Ethics Student Society (MESS) at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis is to foster interest in and provide WashU medical students opportunities to explore bioethics, clinical ethics, research ethics, and more. This group aims to help students learn how ethical thinking is integrated in a medical career, connect with faculty performing ethics/philosophical research, provide networking opportunities, and more. MESS sponsors several activities, including invitations to grand rounds, ethics journal clubs, speakers, and more.
Medical French
Medical French encourages medical students to build and maintain French conversational skills, develop an appreciation for Francophone cultures, and interact with French-speaking healthcare professionals and patients in St. Louis and abroad.
Medical Genetics Interest Group
Specialty interest group for students exploring Medical Genetics as a future sub-specialty or research focus, or who just want to gain experience shadowing in the clinical environment and interacting with trainees and faculty members in the field.
Medical Innovation & Technology
Medical Innovation & Technology (MIT) is a student-led organization focused on how emerging technologies and innovative thinking can improve patient care and the healthcare system. Our mission is to support students interested in artificial intelligence, digital health, medical devices, data science, entrepreneurship, and health systems as they tackle real challenges in healthcare.
MIT connects students with research opportunities, mentors, and resources to support the development of future clinicians, founders, and leaders. Members gain practical experience through case discussions, lectures, workshops, and project-based opportunities, with guidance from founders and experts in the St. Louis innovation ecosystem.
